Cherry-O Card Set & Box

More Cherry-O!  This cute little card set and box was inspired by Patti Lee (SU Demo).  Check out her project here.  I decided that her idea was cute, but had to do it in our papers.  Check it out!
I used Olive cardstock for the box base, chocolate for the chipboard backers and Cherry-O pattern paper for the cardstock front and back.
Here's the inside of the box that holds four 3x3 cards and envelopes.
Two of the cards say "Thinking of You" and two of them say "My Special Friend."  I figured that a little variety is a good thing.
I will most likely re-do some of Patti's instructions and create a cutting guide for the cards too.  Just give me a little time and be sure to check back!

Happy Scrapin' 'n' Stampin'!

Cherry-O Recipe Box

It's turning into Cherry-O week!  LOL!  I love our new recipe boxes and plan to make many of them for different things.  For this one, I made a recipe box for my favorites.  Right now, there's no insides.  Hopefully I'll be able to make them soon.
The little hanging tag is from our new stamp set Tasty Treats.  I stamped the image in two colors, cut them out and layered with foam dots.  Then I took our new 1 1/4 inch punch and made a little circle for the center which fits perfectly!

This picture shows the top a little better where I popped the Irresistibles cherries with foam dots.
I also made stems and leaves from the You're Sweet stamp set, cut them out and popped them with foam as well.  FYI the "recipes" letters are from the Homestead Alphabet.

If you take the front flap and tuck it in the top of the front of the box like so...
...then you can turn it around and rest your recipes on the popped up cherries while you cook or bake.  Ta-Da!
I'm demonstrating this with a 4x6 size recipe card.  To show how it works.  This size also fits perfectly in the box and allows room for tabbed dividers.

The only thing that I didn't do was add little button feet to the bottom to keep it off of a wet counter.  I saw this idea on the consultant b-boards and can't remember for the life of me who it was.  Sorry if it was you!  Anyway, what you do is place a button flat on the bottom of each of the 4 corners and hold them in place with some liquid glass.  This way if you clean the counter or spill something, the bottom won't get all soggy and ruined.

Have a Scraptabulous Day!

Do you have a rolling tote?

If you scrap and travel, you've got to have a rolling tote to carry your stuff.  It's just the best way to get around.  I can't live without mine and if you have one of your own, you know just what I'm talking about.  When I needed inspiration for this Fall's Retreat welcome gift/goodie package (yes, I really do start right after the Spring Retreat ends) I turned to my favorite method of scrapbooking transportation for inspiration.

Isn't it cute?!?!

If you'd like one for your very own (stuffed with goodies of course), you'll just have to go to the retreat.  :)  Either that, or wait until November 8 when the full tutorial will be posted here on my blog.  I know it's a long time until then, but I want my retreat attendees to get a little something special before everyone can just make their own.  Thanks for understanding!!

Have a great day,
Gloria

PS - If you are a fellow CTMH sister, and would like the tutorial/instructions before Nov., just send me an email.  I know you may have seen this on the BBs and would like to make some for your girls too!  I only ask that you do not submit this to any contests as I reserve that right for myself.  If you decide to teach this as a workshop/class (brave girl!) or offer it as a kit, please give credit where credit is due.  I know, I should not have to be saying this, but isn't it sad that I've got to?  Happy creating!

No Crop?! Grab your purse...

My crop today got canceled, so I decided to make this card that's been floating around in my head lately.
I was inspired by a card I saw on Becky Robert's blog a while back.  She made hers with the SU oval punch and I wanted mine to be big so I free handed it with a little help from my left over tacky tape plastic roll.  Of course, you could always whip out your Cricut if you've got one too!  I used our new Splendor paper, our new Cocoa Ribbon Rounds and our new Designer Brads as well as the old January SOM.

No crop?  No problem!  Grab your purse...and go shop! LOL!
Have a great weekend everyone,
Gloria

H2H12

Here's my creation for the latest H2H challenge.  This week we had to create something that used the CTMH colors Buttercup, Tulip and Black.  I've been wanting to work on my random stamping and this seemed like the perfect time to practice.  So, I hauled out Friendship Blessings and Gracious Greetings and got to work.  Add a little white daisy organdy and a lot of foam tape and Wha-La!  I hope you're inspired too and head over to H2H and play along.  :)

BTW - I couldn't help myself and created two cards actually.  This second one uses the felt embellishments we have now at CTMH.  I got some the other day and just wanted to use them.  Check it out!
Have a great day!

Cards from the Retreat

I did a class at the Spring Retreat that showcased 8 of our products.  We made 8 cards demonstrating one way of using each of the products and the attendees got to leave with 8 beautiful new cards, 8 new full size products and 8 new techniques they learned.  We had so much fun!

I wanted to share two of the cards that we created.  This one used our ink showing how to distress the edges of the paper.  I also showed them how to think outside the box with ribbon and hemp.
I stamped the cherries from the You're Sweet set and cut them out ahead of time for them.  We used the hemp for the stems and the ribbon for the leaves.  The sentiment is from the April 2010 SOM.  The paper is Cherry-O.

This card showcased how to use liquid glass.  I pre-stamped and colored to save the class members some time.  The lighting is a little off on this card....sorry about that!  It's a buttery yellow card with garden green and black accents.
I intentionally used no pattern paper on this card.  Sometimes, you just don't need it and it brings focus to the intricate stamped image.  If you just can't resist the B&T, use something subtle on a card like this one.

Have a Scraptabulous day,
Gloria

Graduation Cards

It's that time of year and we don't have too many graduation parties to go to.  But, for those who are celebrating I made a few cards.

This one went to Damon, Annette's son and Joey, my "little" cousin who isn't so little anymore.  I used liquid appliqué for the smoke behind the rocket.
Here's a mini one that can easily be included with a gift.
Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the one I a gave to my cousin Andrew.  I'll have to dig out Abby's too and get it up here in the next few days.  Hers was a generic style that could be used for any happy celebration.

And, if you need to thank a teacher with a gift and little card, this one should do nicely.
The first two cards use our new paper pack Zippidee and the last one uses Passages.  I really think our packs are so versatile.  They always show them using an obvious application in the Idea Book and then a few alternate suggestions in cards some times.  I think that Zippidee can be used for a variety of things beyond Disney trips and that Passages is so much more than travel.  Be sure to sign up for my Workshops using these paper packs and you'll get all kinds of ideas on how to use the papers we offer.

I've also used some different stamp sets.  The rocket ship is shown in the book with little boy's pages, and the apple is from the new You're Sweet set that's shown with the new Cherry-O paper.  I really love the new You're Sweet set and plan to use the fruit to make a flower card some day.  Just add it to my list of things to do!  LOL!  :)
Have a great day,
Gloria

A "New To Me" Card Fold

Here's the card I made first following Vicki's dimensions.  I wanted to show the Father's Day stuff first to be "timely."  More on that in the last posting.  Anyways, Vicki started with a 4 1/4 x 10 1/4 piece and scored at 5 1/2  and 8 1/4.  That works out great when you put a scalloped edge on it like this one.  It appears that the picture doesn't quite show it but you do see the purple on the otherside of the scallop when it's fully closed.  This is what you get when you're trying to take quick pics with a two year old.  :)
I random stamped the pattern paper section using the Friendship Blessings stamp set.  I got inspired by Vicki's random stamping - she's so good at it!  Go check out her blog and see what I mean.  I'll have to practice a little to get up to her caliber.
Here it is open so you can see inside.  If you don't want to write all squishy on the left side of the main part, you can always put cardstock on the little hidden left part and write on that.
Here it is again folded but laying down so you can see how the spacing goes when it's shut.  I've got to get Joe to finish the wiring for my light box so I can take photos properly.  :)  ...and without a 2 year old "helping" me get the lighting just right.

Happy Scrapin' 'n' Stampin',
Gloria

Father's Day

First, I'd like to say that I've come to a bit of a revelation.  I think I need to ban the family members from looking at my blog around holiday times.  I've found that I only post projects that I intend to give after the holiday and while that's all good and well, it's not very helpful for my readers.  How bad is it that I'm just getting around to realizing this!?!?  So, my dear family, while I love you much, please refrain from looking at my blog during a holiday time.  Either that, or be forewarned that you could stumble upon the very gift you will receive.

On to the project...I simplified it a little this year and made a card that was inspired by ones I saw on Vicki Wizniuk blog.  Come back tomorrow to see the other card I made on the same template idea.  :)
My card starts as a 4 1/4 x 10 1/2 strip and then it's scored at 5 1/2 and 8.  I decided to stick the top two flaps together to help seal in my stitching with the hemp cording.  Tomorrow's is closer to Vicki's dimensions and shows the flaps all free.
My Father-In-Law will surely enjoy his Costco Cash!  He loves that place.  :)

Have a wonderful day,
Gloria

Cricuts for Renee

At the past retreat, Renee mentioned that she really liked my cartridge organizer that I had made myself.  You know I'm always trying to find that perfect storage solution...  My friends, I'm here to tell you that it may not exist.  However, that topic is for another day.  I decided to surprise my friend Renee with a little gift for her new scrap room.
A little divided basket for each of the cartridges and tabbed dividers for all of the overlays and books.  In hot pink and green (the colors of her room) of course!

Turns out I should have made her 2!!  Renee my dear, I had no idea how many carts you had.  Maybe Santa will just have to bring you another surprise for your room.  :)

Hope you're enjoying your new storage!

Time, where do you go?

Man time sure seems to fly by lately.  I keep telling myself there's things to be done and the more that make it on my list it seems that the less I get done.  Oye!!  At any rate, I've got a few minutes today (a small miracle, I assure you) and am lining up some posts for the week.  Come on back for a visit tomorrow and I'll show you some of the things I've been creating during my crazy days.

Until then, here's a super cutie you might enjoy.  My B sure does enjoy "helping" mommy pack for scrapbooking.  :)

Love my mini man!
