H2H3

Talk about cutting it close! I almost didn't make it this week for H2H. It's a sketch this time and for some reason I just wasn't feeling it. I tried to force something out earlier in the week and it's so bad, I'm not even posting it. Last night, it hit me just as I was falling asleep - go figure. Today, at Ben's nap time, I was finally able to create and this is what I came up with.
I used a retired paper pack called Let's Get Together. I didn't really like this one at first, but now that it's gone, I miss it. I've also used some items from the new book to jazz it up a bit. If my ribbon looks a little grey - it's the lighting - sorry - I promise it's garden green. Ask my hubby why I can't use my light box yet.... :)

Here are the flowers close up. I fussy cut them from one of the pattern papers and used our new "Irresistibles" chipboard to embellish them. The breeze blue flower also has a sparkle brad, the buttercup yellow one has a pearl and the cranberry red one has a bitty sparkle. I popped them all with foam because I can't not have dimension and then accented them with some irresistibles leaves done in garden green. I have to say that I LOVE the new irresistibles chipboard! It's so fun to work with. :)
I made a paper ribbon matted with cardstock that has also been edge distressed. Then I tied some garden green ribbon around to give it some extra oomph. The sentiment (from Friendship Blessings) was stamped onto the irresistibles chipboard after it had been covered in ink.
Here's a quick last look at the card from another angle. I love how it turned out and can't wait to send it off to it's lucky recipient.
I hope you're inspired to go make a creation of your own and please PLEASE go check out Heart 2 Heart. It's such a creative place and there are so many talented people who post their creations. Even if you don't participate in the challenges, it's worth the time to look.

Have a creative day!

Heart 2 Heart #2

This week, Heart 2 Heart is at it again. I've got a feeling you'll see lots of posts from me about this challenge. It's not only a ton of fun, but it's getting me to think in different ways. This week's 1-2-3 challenge was particularly hard for me. Not just the 1-2-3 part, but I've also been looking for was to incorporate our April SOM & our new punch that's coming out. Of course, you'll have to come to my Summer Idea Book Launch Party on the 1st to get all the details. Anywho, on to my challenge entry.

1-Stamp, not stamp set, ladies, just one stamp. This was SO hard!!
2-Pattern papers. That's not too bad...
3-Embellishments. Total, just three things. Three! Ouch, that's really difficult!!

So here's what I made. It's a cute little mother's day card for my Mother-In-Law. She loves to garden and loves flowers so I thought I'd make her some topiary flowers in pots.
The hardest part was working the "happy mother's day" in. I had already used the April SOM on the flower pot. Yes, I know I could have free handed those....I tried...believe me it wasn't pretty. I wish I could have used another stamp set for the sentiment! Since I couldn't I had to come up with a cute way to put it in there. I had to think about it for a day or so, but it hit me - plant markers!! I just wish I had better handwriting....
The flowers or topiary heads - however you see them - are made up of 6 circles punched with our new punch. I wish I could take credit for how to make these, but I got the idea from some SU girls who are doing them with their scallop circle punches and their flower punches. I just used it on our circle punch, added plenty of ink, and ta-da! Instant 3-D flower.
The stem is 5 strands of sassy strands (retired product) twisted together and secured under the flower head and pot with glue dots. I also popped the pot with some foam to match the dimension of the flower head.

Wouldn't this be super cute as a topiary tree on the front of a house warming card? Maybe I should have done that for the challenge....something for another post maybe. I think I was inspired by my little topiary tree creation that sits on the top of my bill paying desk.
I think I might just do a tutorial of how to make these cute little flower heads with our new punch. Of course it will have to be after the 1st, so stay tuned. Until then, I hope this card has given you some inspiration for your next project & please head over to Heart 2 Heart Challenges. It really is tons of fun and anyone can join in! :)

Have a great day!

First Ever Heart 2 Heart Challenge

Hello Everyone,

Today I'm posting my creation for the first every Heart 2 Heart Challenge. If you don't yet know about these, that's okay because they are brand new! Check out what it's all about by visiting the blog at Heart 2 Heart Challenges.

I created a little gift package perfect for Mother's Day or any other time you need a special gift.
Here's what's on the inside...some toe huggers for a pedi, file, clippers, space for a gift card and a note card.
The challenge was to use the colors sunflower, sweet leaf and chocolate. It took me a while to come up with an idea, but then I saw the cute little pedi packs in the dollar area at Michaels and it hit me - spa pack! Here's a side view when it's all closed up.
I created this flower on the front with a punch we'll be getting in May. Isn't it awesome?!
Don't miss my demo on how to make one of these at my Summer Idea Book Party. It's May 1st at 11am. Shoot me a quick email, and I'll get you all the details. :)

Anywho, thanks for checking out my post today on my new find. Be sure to check out H2H! Anyone can join in the fun and the artwork is totally inspiring.

Have a great day,
Gloria
