Spring Fling 2010

Sorry guys, I haven't been able to post anything lately because I'm busy working on the projects we'll be making for the first ever Spring Fling 2010. Since this is the first year, let me answer some questions before you ask...

What is Spring Fling 2010?
Spring Fling 2010 is a card based series class designed for anyone and any skill level. After trying to pick "the best date" for everyone to attend a class and generally failing, I decided to try virtual and designed a series of 6 classes in a virtual format. Each "attendee" will receive a package in the mail before class starts with all the materials they will need to create each project. Then every week, for 6 weeks, I will post a new project on our exclusive protected website. I will guide you through creating each of the projects with detailed tutorials and an abundance of photos.

When is it?
Registration starts now through March 3 and class begins March 20th. Don't worry if you can't make "class" one of the days. The Spring Fling 2010 website will be available for many many months after class is officially over allowing you to create when the time is best for you. Early bird? Late night owl? Super busy until Summer? With Spring Fling, it doesn't matter because you determine the best time for yourself.

Where is it?
Class is held virtually and can be accessed at any time by those who are registered. Each registrant will receive an email allowing them access to the site where class projects will be posted.

What will we make?
I'm in the official test creation stages, so if everything goes as planned, you'll make 18 cards, 2 boxes and 1 card purse. I can guarantee that if things change, it will only be an increase in the numbers of items and I will let you know the changes asap via this blog.

How much is class?
Spring Fling 2010 is $20.00 per person. This cost includes all the materials needed to complete each project, unlimited access to the exclusive website and all the personal assistance you could ever need from me. Plus, it's delivered right to your door at no extra cost!

How do I sign up?
Signing up is easy! Just send me an email at gloriajrogers@gmail.com and let me know you are interested. Mid-February I'll be sending out an email to everyone showing teaser pictures of the projects we'll make, the details of what we are making each week and how to register & pay.

Hopefully that takes some of the mystery out of Spring Fling and gets you as excited as I am about my latest upcoming class.

Happy Scrapin' 'n' Stampin' Everyone!

My Little Mummy

I know it's no where near Halloween, but I just had to make this card. I've seen it on a few blogs, some websites and I can't give credit to any one person which is just a shame. However, if you've made one, please comment and let me know! You can also feel free to post a link to a picture of your version.
My mummy is made using CTMH Stick Stock in Twill. Unfortunately, this item has been discontinued. However, never fear, Gloria's here! :) Hehe!! You can also use our Twill Ribbon and get the exact same effect. Here's how to create your very own mummy card in 6 super easy steps. Yep, you can really do this! Just grab your supplies and follow along...

Supplies Needed:
1-4x5.5 card base (I use contraband kind from HL)
Twill Ribbon (Z1099)
Chocolate Ink Pad (Z2111)
Friendship Alphabet Small - set of 82 (C1401) & acrylic block
"Contraband" Punch from SU - any punch will do or you can stamp directly on the Twill Ribbon
3-D Foam Tape if you are using a punch (Z1151)
Small scrap of cream-ish cardstock
Google Eyes - I got mine at M's
Micro-Tip Scissors (Z534) Yes...mine are not CTMH but Cutter Bees - had them for ages...
First: Cut your Twill Ribbon into 5 inch lengths. You'll need to have 25 or so lengths depending on how much you overlap. Adhere some really good adhesive, like Tacky Tape (available at M's or HL) to the back of the ribbon, and then ink the front edges of the ribbon with our Chocolate Ink Pad. Don't worry if you get some ink in the center of the ribbons, it adds to the effect.
Second: Carefully peel off the adhesive backing from the Tacky Tape and start to stick down your strips of ribbon on the card. I recommend starting with one straight strip at the top and bottom and one across the area you will put the eyes. Like this:
Third: Attach your google eyes to the ribbon. Continue to place strips at random covering up the card base.

Remember to overlap strips, place them off kilter
and cover the eyes a little bit for an authentic effect.
Fourth: Use your scissors to cut off the excess ribbon on both sides of the card.
Fifth: Punch or cut out your scrap of cardstock for the sentiment.

Grab your stamp set, chocolate ink and stamp away.

Attach to the card front & you're done!
Sixth: Sit back and admire how cute that little mummy is and how fast & easy it was to make!

I hope that was clearer than mud and remember, if you've got any questions, just give me a holler! Now, go on, leave some love for me and let me know how things went with my first tutorial ever. :)

Happy Scrapin' 'n' Stampin'

A Woman's Prerogative

I'm sure some of you have noticed that I've changed my blog design about a million times in the past week. I don't know what's up, I just decided I didn't like what I had and am trying to find something that's a little more me. :) This one is getting close...I think and some day, I'll find it. In the mean time, I'm sticking with the story that it's just a woman's prerogative to change her mind.

Have a good one,
Gloria

Petite Perks Box

Okedoke, here's my latest project. I love Love LOVE the new packaging of our Petite Perks stamp sets! They are like little mini versions of our regular My Acrylix stamp sets. So so cute...sorry, I digress...

The only thing I might love more than mini things are well organized mini things. So, I needed to design an adorable way to organize the mini stamp sets. I hope you enjoy what I've come up with and can make sense of the tutorial below. If it's clear as mud, just contact me!

Tracey Mason is a Genius!

Here's why:

I visit Tracey's Blog on a fairly regular rate now that I've discovered her. She's a fellow CTMH Consultant and has some really wonderful and inspiring artwork, but the best part is always the pictures. She's an amazing photographer!

So yesterday after taking some ho-hum pictures of a new tutorial I'm working on, I checked out Tracey's Blog and found out how to take pro-style pics for next to nothing...OMG am I excited. So I leave this huge thank you comment and I'm sure she thinks I'm nuts, but this nut just followed her directions and created this crazy looking thing...
(Yes I know our lamp is broken...we have a spastic cat)

Which helped me take this amazing photo...
I know, not CTMH - It's for a family member's 50th wedding anniversary... The point is - I can take better pictures now and it only cost me $0.41 for poster board. $0.41!!!!

So, what does this mean for you all?? Well the obvious is that you won't have to look at horrid pictures on my blog again...well not after the upcoming tutorial pics AND if you have a blog where you post stuff, your artwork can rock too! OR If you Ebay...Etsy...etc... you now know how to get great pics of your stuff without breaking the bank. All you've got to do is find a box that's big enough.

Thanks Bunches, Tracey!
